The Nikon FM was launched in 1977.
It was launched as a compact SLR which was aimed to compete with the Olympus OM series. The Nikon FM has always been described as a competitive "workhorse" camera with a handy size and weight in comparison to other SLR's. The shutter works without batteries so the Nikon FM is almost undestroyable. A great camera for camera enthousiasts.
