Minolta X-700 FAQ

  • The X-700 was Minolta's top manual-focus SLR of the early 1980s and added full Program autoexposure to aperture priority and manual control. It made serious SLR shooting feel easy.

  • MPS, or Minolta Program System, lets the camera choose both shutter speed and aperture with compatible lenses. It turns the X-700 into a very capable automatic camera when you want speed.

  • Choose it if you want a flexible Minolta SR-mount body that can be automatic for quick shooting but still lets you learn aperture priority and manual exposure.

  • It is the crowd-pleaser of the Minolta manual-focus line: accessible, lightweight, feature-rich and backed by excellent Rokkor and MD lenses.

  • The X-700 is electronic, so buy tested and use fresh batteries. Its convenience is worth it, but condition matters.
