The Minolta Dynax 500si was launched in 1994.

The camera is also known as the Maxxum 400si and the Maxxum RZ400si. The Minolta Dynax 500si was used as a test bed for APS film using a special cartridge it was also possible to use APS film. This camera is equipped with a lot of handy programs and focus modes, it's also equipped with a built-in flash. The Minolta Program 3500xi external flash is also included.

Minolta Dynax 500si FAQ

The 500si is a friendly 1990s Minolta A-mount autofocus SLR with built-in programs and flash. It is less about old-school dials and more about getting people shooting quickly.
Its charm is that it sits between the very simple 300si and more advanced bodies: still approachable, but with a little more capability and confidence.
Choose it for an easy AF film setup with Minolta/Sony A-mount lens options and a very relaxed shooting rhythm.
It uses Minolta A-mount autofocus lenses, the mount that later continued into the Sony Alpha SLR/DSLR world. That gives these cameras a surprisingly useful lens ecosystem.
It is best for easy film SLR shooting with autofocus, built-in metering and a less precious feel than many collectible manual bodies.
