The FE combines the compact Nikon FM-style chassis with aperture-priority auto exposure and a beautifully clear match-needle display. It feels precise without being flashy.

The viewfinder needles are the charm. In manual mode they teach exposure clearly; in auto mode they show the shutter speed the camera is choosing.

Mostly it needs batteries for its electronic shutter and meter, but it has mechanical backup at M90 plus Bulb. That little backup is part of the FE's thoughtful design.

Choose it if you want a serious manual-focus Nikon that can shoot quickly in aperture priority but still feels traditional and metal.

It works best with Nikon AI and AI-S F-mount lenses, and many later aperture-ring Nikon lenses can also be used manually.
