It has a razor-sharp lens, it's weatherproof and very sturdy. Great for beginners because of the ease of use. But also extremely popular among professional photographers because the camera share the same lens as the MJU II.

 

The Olympus AF-1 is equipped with a 35mm, 1:2.8 lens. The MJU II lens.

Olympus AF-1 FAQ

  • The Olympus AF-1 is remembered as a fully automatic weatherproof compact, nicknamed Nurepika in Japan. That weatherproof design helped make it feel more adventurous than ordinary 1980s point-and-shoots.

  • Weatherproofing makes the camera more comfortable for travel, rainy streets and beach days. It does not mean you should abuse a vintage camera, but it does make the AF-1 feel ready for real life.

  • It has a confident, rounded, sealed-body look that feels very Olympus: friendly, practical and clever. It is less precious than many premium compacts, which is part of the charm.

  • It is best for someone who wants a premium-feeling compact that can handle daily adventures without the collector anxiety of a Contax or Leica.

  • Use it as a go-anywhere snapshot camera. It is at its best on trips, walks, social days and changing weather, where a normal camera might stay in the bag.
